The small suburb town of Thorpe St Andrews, has a population of around 14,000 people, many of which work in the larger nearby city of Norwich which is only 2 miles away.

With plenty of leisure facilities as well as local amenities, it is a lively town.

Mentioned in the Domesday Book as simply Torp which a Scandinavian word for village, the Danes were believed to have been in the area from around the 9th Century.

Before this, evidence has also been found of Roman occupation.

A few medieval ruins live on in the village too if you know where to look.
